Engineering Biomaterials for Cardiovascular Regeneration

The Chen Lab develops biodegradable and bioresponsive materials for vascular grafts, cardiac patches, and regenerative medicine. We integrate polymer chemistry, 3D printing, electrowriting, mechanobiology, and in vivo models to design next-generation cardiovascular therapies.

Mechanobiology & Host Remodeling

Creating programmable micro/nanofibrous architectures using our elastomers to control cell alignment, mechanics, and tissue organization.

Designing resorbable elastomeric grafts that promote endothelialization, tissue remodeling, and long-term vascular repair.

Developing flexible, bioactive scaffolds to support cardiac tissue repair and electrophysiological integration.

Studying how material chemistry, stiffness, architecture, and degradation regulate cell behavior and tissue regeneration.

WHAT WE DO

We design, fabricate, and evaluate biomaterials that guide cardiovascular tissue repair. Our lab combines material synthesis, scaffold fabrication, cell-material interaction studies, and preclinical implantation models to understand how engineered materials influence regeneration.
