About
Dr. Chen is an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Rowan University. Her lab designs biodegradable and bioresponsive biomaterials for cardiovascular tissue engineering, including vascular grafts, cardiac patches, and fibrous regenerative scaffolds. Her research integrates polymer chemistry, scaffold architecture, metal-ligand coordination, and mechanobiology to create materials that actively guide tissue repair. Before joining Rowan, Dr. Chen completed postdoctoral training at Cornell University, where she developed resorbable vascular grafts and evaluated their remodeling in small and large animal models.
- Metal-coordinated biomaterials for controlled remodeling and bioactivity
- Biodegradable elastomers for vascular grafts and cardiac patches
- 3D printing and electrowritten scaffolds with programmable architecture
- Host response, endothelialization, and smooth muscle cell regeneration
- In vivo evaluation of cardiovascular implants
